High voter turnouton Likoma Island

Speaking yesterday after voting at Likoma Youth Hall, he noted that many voters queued as early as 5am when most centres opened at 6am.
“Few centres opened slightly later, around 6.15am, but from the reports from here and Chizumulu, the peaceful voting that has started will continue throughout the day,” Nkhoma said.

Likoma district elections officer Theophilus Msachi described the situation at the centres he visited as calm and orderly.
“Voters have turned up in good numbers to vote in several polling stations,” he said.
At Mtengula Polling Station, presiding officer Alfred Kayange confirmed that the centre opened at 6am.
“Some came as early as 4.30am and the process has started smoothly without any challenges so far,” he said.
